Last year David Massey, pupil of David Burden, won the String Section of the BBC Young Musician  of the Year. David, who learnt through the Guitarist’s Progress Series’ for 11 years at Mid Herts Music Centre, is only the second guitarist ever to win the String Section of the this most prestigious competition. The Final, broadcast live on BBC 2, was won by clarinettist Mark Simpson in May. Here are pictures from all of the rounds which were held at The Sage in Newcastle:
